For your dog or puppy, Interceptor (milbemycin oxime) Flavor Tabs are used to prevent heartworm disease, control adult hookworm infection, and remove and control adult roundworms and whipworms. For your cat or kitten, Interceptor prevents heartworm disease and removes adult hookworms and roundworms.

Now manufactured for Elanco Animal Health. Safe for puppies 4 weeks of age and over and 2 pounds or more, and kittens 6 weeks of age or older and 1.5 pounds or more.

This medication should not be used in animals allergic to it. The pet should be tested for heartworm disease before starting this medication. If the pet has been off heartworm preventative for 6 months or more, retest in 6 months since microfilaria, that take 6 months to mature, will cause a positive test result. Because humans can contract hookworm and roundworm from animals it is important to maintain good personal hygiene. It is also important to eliminate fleas on the pet and in the household and to not feed the pet rodents or uncooked meat or fish. To prevent reinfection, daily cleanup of stools is recommended.
